Responsibilities You will work with the Engineering and Industry teams to design software solutions for our engineering systems and hardware. Collaborating with other teams, you will deliver effective software systems and grow your skills and knowledge. You will support embedded systems, allowing you to test your coding on real‑time cutting‑edge hardware. Apprentice Programme As a Software Engineer Apprentice you will study at the University of Strathclyde towards a BSc in Software Development. During the four‑year programme you combine university studies with practical application in our Software function in Glasgow. You will have one day per week dedicated to studies. The other four days you work in the business, applying university learning in a real‑life engineering environment. Apprentices attend campus classes for 10 days annually, once a month during term time. Upon completion you will move into a permanent role within Thales in Glasgow. Requirements
4 Highers (BBBB) including either Maths, Computing Science or Physics National 5 English at grade C or above

Other Information Start date: 07 September 2026 Salary: £24,000 per annum Employee type: Permanent Location: Glasgow Working schedule: 37 hours per week – Mon‑Thu on site (or remote where suitable), Friday is a university day either in person or virtual. Security Clearance This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if already held, otherwise a successful applicant must obtain and maintain SC clearance prior to commencing.
