We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team in the nonprofit industry. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, streamlining processes, and managing client relationships. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures, and report variances.
  • Develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
  • Streamline accounting processes and operations to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their financial queries are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Mentor and develop a team of senior accountants, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and building an effective team dynamic.
  • Evaluate and make improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with organization accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with team members to assist with financial reporting, year-end audits, and budget and forecast preparation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a Master's degree or professional accounting accreditation such as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting management or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in streamlining processes and managing clients in a professional setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Proficient in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, laws, and regulatory codes.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
