Our Actuarial & Consulting Team is made up of over 400 pensions consultants and actuaries advising clients across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. We advise on everything from helping trustees and sponsors to manage defined benefit plans, running large-scale communications projects and implementing alternative reward and pension provision. The range of work is vast and there’ll be opportunities to gain new experiences and put your skills to the test.

This role will be part of the Risk Settlement team, a group of over 25 colleagues offering full insurance de-risking services for Trustees and Sponsors of Defined Benefit pension schemes and services to insurers. This is a key strategic area for Isio, with anticipated growth in the sector over the coming years.

What’s the role?

We’re looking for experienced consultants, either part or fully qualified actuaries with relevant risk settlement experience, to help grow this specialist team. We seek individuals with excellent pensions consulting and technical skills, a commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting in the delivery of advice to clients – this may include managing key client projects directly, and/or supporting partners and directors to deliver to clients.
  • Involvement in the technical aspects of projects, including building relationships with clients directly, working as part of a team and developing those around you.
  • Assisting in the development of new business with existing and new clients.
  • Technical responsibilities include understanding the pensions insurance industry, developing client strategies to approach the insurance market, and preparing schemes to approach insurers.
  • Providing client advice on the right transaction to meet objectives and supporting post-transaction processes through to wind-up.
  • Opportunity to develop technical expertise and consulting skills to lead the delivery of broking projects for clients as you progress.

There will be opportunities to get involved in other areas of de-risking consulting and to work with a wide range of clients in the Insurance Team, collaborating with other specialist teams to achieve the best outcomes.

Where is the role?

The Risk Settlement team is based across multiple UK offices with locations including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading. We operate on a hybrid basis, allowing time between the office and home. We foster strong communities across locations and teams with regular team-building, charity and social events.

Key skills and experience

  • Experience – A part or fully qualified actuary FFA/FIA with relevant risk settlement industry experience.
  • Technical expert – understanding the pensions insurance industry and using this to help develop the right strategy and support the execution of transactions to provide good outcomes for clients.
  • A great communicator – ability to explain complex problems simply to help everyone understand.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation – strong desire to solve problems and deliver excellent advice.
  • Excellent project management and client delivery skills – especially when balancing multiple demands.
  • A great team worker – either as part of a team or managing a team, depending on experience.
  • Commercial skills – to help develop our business and seek new opportunities.
