Advanced Clinical Practitioner | Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust
1 Days Old
Garston Urgent Treatment Centre is recruiting for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. This role offers an exciting opportunity to practice at an advanced level in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
The service, which includes Walk-in Centres and Urgent Treatment Centres across Liverpool, operates from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm with flexible shift patterns.
The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on and supporting clinical decision-making, functioning as the shift coordinator, and managing the service in the absence of the Service Leads. The role requires commitment to supporting and developing team members, ensuring a high-quality, consistent service delivery through mentorship and clinical supervision.
You will work autonomously, demonstrating high motivation and delivering advanced clinical practice within nationally and locally recognized frameworks for Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP). Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage challenging situations are essential.
Key responsibilities include applying advanced skills in history taking, assessment, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate referrals. You will also mentor other clinical staff to develop competencies, lead clinical decision-making, and ensure smooth patient flow and experience.
Mersey Care, serving over 1.4 million people across the North West, offers a range of physical and mental health services, including high secure mental health facilities. We are committed to 'perfect care'—safe, effective, timely, equitable, and efficient—and support staff in delivering their best work while involving service users and families in service development.
Flexible working requests will be considered.
Qualifications include completion of the Independent Non-Medical Prescribing course and registration with the NMC or HCPC. The post holder must maintain evidence of ongoing competence and adhere to the Trust's policies and professional standards.
Responsibilities include delivering clinical care, prioritizing workload, conducting comprehensive health assessments, managing investigations, and ensuring informed consent. The role involves supervising junior staff, interpreting diagnostic results, and contributing to system improvements for patient flow and safety.
The post requires maintaining up-to-date records, adapting clinical knowledge to various settings, promoting clinical governance, and supporting service development. The practitioner will also lead clinical audits, support staff education, and facilitate collaboration with secondary care.
