About The Role
The London Borough of Havering is looking to recruit Advanced Practitioners to contribute to the delivery of an effective children’s social care service as part of a social work team, improving outcomes for children and young people, and manage caseloads dependent upon experience, grade of post and complexity of cases, utilising specialist knowledge for appropriate interventions, needs and risk assessments, care planning and child protection investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly manage and supervise a small number of qualified and non-social work staff.
- Manage a caseload of complex and challenging cases.
- Support team manager in maintaining and developing high professional standards across the team.
- Have specialist knowledge of an area of social work practice with children and families that can be used across the service. To represent the service in developing key service provision or local strategic initiatives.
- Take responsibility for developing skills, expertise and knowledge for a wide range of practice issues and to provide consultation, coaching and mentoring within the team, including effective case management, purposeful evidence-based interventions, analytical assessments and high quality written work.
- Support team development and recruitment process.
Qualifications
To be successful you will have:
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. social work practitioner, advanced practitioner).
- Minimum of 4 years experience in child and family social care.
- Strong knowledge of child protection and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, mentoring and coaching skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
What We Offer
We promote a hybrid model of working for our social care staff, with a flexible approach involving working from our town hall campus/hubs. In addition, we also encourage a flexible approach to team building opportunities (we love a catch up over a cuppa, breakfast or lunch) which often take place Face to Face in line with our model of practice.
