Would you like to be at the forefront of improving the environment? This is an exciting opportunity to work in our national Agricultural Remote Sensing Team.

Team

The Remote Sensing Team sits in Agriculture and Land and is part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate. We’re a dispersed team that works with a wide range of technical and project teams across the country.

Responsibilities

As a Member of the Remote Sensing Team you will:

  • Use GIS, aerial photography and other remote sensing evidence to identify pollution risks that arise from agricultural practices such as leaks of slurry and silage effluent.
  • Produce evidence packs that support local farm inspections and aid local officers in delivering the best environmental outcomes.
  • Collaborate with local officers to add vital intelligence to farm inspections and safeguard the future environment.

Qualifications

  • The ability to use, and an interest in, GIS mapping producing accurate reports to a template and carrying out basic analysis of mapping data are essential. The ability to manipulate data in Excel is also essential.
  • A basic knowledge and interest in farm or waste regulations and associated systems and common causes of agricultural diffuse pollution would be advantageous.
  • You will be self‑motivated, organised, with excellent attention to detail. A strong team ethic and an ability to work independently are essential. A desire to innovate and solve problems will be a valuable asset.

Location & Working Pattern

This is a national role with a flexible / hybrid working pattern. Some travel and overnights may be required.
