Overview

The Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the national Agricultural Remote Sensing Team, using GIS, aerial photography and other evidence to identify pollution risks to the environment and support farm inspections with local officers. The role supports improving the environment and safeguarding the future environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify pollution risks to the environment from farms using GIS and other remote sensing evidence.
  • Produce evidence packs to support farm visits by local officers.
  • Work with local officers to identify pollution risks and contribute to environmental outcomes.
  • Use GIS mapping, basic data analysis, and Excel to prepare accurate reports to a template.
  • Contribute to developing and delivering environmental intelligence to improve outcomes.

Experience/Skills Required

  • The ability to use GIS mapping and an interest in producing accurate reports to a template; ability to manipulate data in Excel.
  • A basic knowledge and interest in farm or waste regulations and common causes of agricultural diffuse pollution is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and organized with excellent attention to detail; strong team ethic; ability to work independently; a desire to innovate and solve problems.

Development and Support

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided. You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. We’ll help you find a role to suit your needs. Appropriate training will be given.

Working Arrangements

EA Office base location; as a national role the working location is flexible / hybrid. Some travel and overnights may be required. We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel.
