Associate Director - Leveraged Finance
Location: Manchester
We are seeking a highly capable Associate Director to join a leading specialist debt fund, focused on structuring and executing leveraged finance transactions for SMEs. With deal sizes ranging from £100K to £20M, this role centres on delivering tailored debt solutions for businesses backed by Private Equity and Financial Sponsors.
Role Overview
This position blends origination and execution responsibilities, with a clear focus on leveraged buyouts, acquisition finance, and growth capital transactions. You will collaborate closely with sponsors, advisors, and internal teams to structure deals that drive value for both investors and portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate, assess, and execute leveraged finance transactions, particularly those involving PE-backed SMEs.
- Partner with the Regional Head of Credit to prepare high-impact credit memos and investor presentations.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis, including cash flow forecasting, debt capacity assessment, and covenant structuring.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Private Equity firms, financial sponsors, and corporate finance advisors.
- Use data-driven insights to refine deal structures and optimise client outcomes.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in leveraged finance, acquisition finance, or structured lending—ideally within banking, direct lending, or debt advisory.
- Track record of executing deals in the £100K–£20M range, with exposure to PE-backed transactions.
- Deep understanding of credit risk, financial modelling, and structuring debt for leveraged situations.
- Commercial mindset with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex transactions and deliver tailored financing solutions under tight timelines.
