We are seeking an Associate Director (Project Management) to join our Birmingham office.
This is a rare opportunity to work on signature developments while contributing to the growth and direction of our growing and innovative business. You'll also have the chance to mentor junior team members, support business development efforts, and help shape the future of our Midlands presence.
We're currently partnered with several exciting clients which include large scale, prime high-rise residential projects in the city centre. In addition to our signature projects, we are also working on a diverse portfolio of projects within the region which span across multiple sectors of the built environment.
As Associate Director, we would be looking to utilise your skills and experience working on our largest and most complex projects and signature clients.
Therefore, we're seeking a well-rounded professional with strong technical skills, commercial awareness, and excellent people management skills. You'll bring a proven ability to manage client relationships, deliver high-quality outcomes and contribute to business development initiatives.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the Associate Director role include:
- Working as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers whilst reporting into the Project Director and working closely with the Executive Director.
- Ensure our client(s) achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive risk and programme controls and the provision of contractual advice.
- Prepare full tender documentation, for consultant or contractor appointments, in line with the TSA Riley requirements and present these to the client for review and comment.
- Administer the tender processes for consultant and contractor appointments.
- Provide /obtain advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions and present to the client.
- Acting in an Employers Agent role on behalf of our clients.
- Administer / manage cost/variation procedures as applicable under the relevant Appointment or Contract
- Attend and/or chair meetings within line with the appointment provisions.
- Prepare financial and progress reports for the client, ensuring their specific data requirements are included.
- Instigate value engineering and standardisation processes aimed at optimising efficiency for both TSA Riley and the client.
- Propose innovative initiatives on service delivery for TSA Riley management consideration.
- Prepare development and delivery programmes in Microsoft Project, ensuring the key deliverable objectives are understood and reported adequately
- Take an active role in managing, mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff within the Birmingham office.
- A relevant degree or masters qualification in construction project management or similar equivalent subject.
- Membership of a reputable and relevant professional body such as the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or similar is desired.
- The ability to autonomously carry out a full range of pre and post contract duties from conception through to final accounting.
- Strong client facing and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. You will have demonstrable experience of acting in the lead project management role, supporting clients and delivering high-quality outcomes whilst providing project management services.
- Excellent people management skills and demonstrable experience of managing small teams and developing junior staff members.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to add input in strategic growth decisions as well as proven experience of assisting in the growth of revenue for a business unit. This could either be through securing new clients, or maximising opportunities with existing client's relationships.
- A proven ability to work on large scale construction projects within the built environment.
- Given our portfolio of projects, candidates with experience of working on large-scale, high-rise residential projects and the build to rent sector are particularly desirable. However, we welcome applications from candidates with experience on similarly large-scale projects in comparable sectors.
- Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC and strong contract administration skills are desired.
- Strong IT skills and proficient in common software packages and keeps up-to-date with the latest technological developments within the industry and embraces innovation.
