A highly reputable claims and disputes consultancy based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, is looking to hire an Associate Director – Quantum.
There is also an exciting opportunity for the Associate Director to open an office in a strategic location such as Birmingham, Leeds, London, or Manchester.
The successful candidate will likely be an existing Associate Director or a Senior Consultant in Quantum and claims who has worked for a consultancy providing dispute resolution services.

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of assignments across multiple sectors, working with a diverse client base including main contractors, sub-contractors, and client organizations. The client base is primarily involved in projects within the built environment, such as schools, hospitals, and residential developments. Candidates from all project backgrounds will be considered.
Responsibilities and Duties
As an Associate Director, you will report directly to the Managing Director and manage your own assignments related to claims on live projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Examining and advising on construction contracts.
- Providing expert, commercially focused counsel to help clients prevent conflicts.
- Supporting clients with matters related to delay and loss.
- Collaborating with Delay Analysts on disputed and time-related issues.
- Providing coaching and training on commercial, contractual, and temporal issues.
- Preparing reports and representing clients in tribunals.
- Collaborating with solicitors in construction-related disputes.
- Business development activities.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Approximately 10 years of postgraduate experience, ideally in Quantity Surveying.
- Experience in providing professional construction commercial and contractual advice.
- Strong knowledge of Quantity Surveying duties, including managing variations and changes.
- Experience working on projects in the built environment is preferred, but candidates from other backgrounds will also be considered.
- Experience or involvement in formal disputes (adjudication, arbitration, litigation) is advantageous.
- Well-presented, articulate, and able to thrive in a client-facing role with effective communication skills.
- Good knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC and JCT.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent is desired.
- Membership in a professional body such as RICS or a related qualification, or a Master’s in Construction Law, is desirable. Candidates working towards these qualifications will also be considered.

Additional Benefits
Salary up to £120k (DOE), plus car allowance, pension, discretionary bonus, support for further qualifications, and hybrid working options.
