Companion Group is an AAA co-development gaming studio with a globally distributed and fully remote setup. It is renowned for overcoming the most intricate challenges in multiplayer game development. Our reputation precedes us as an excellent choice for clients aspiring to elevate their latest multiplayer titles, enabling scalability in player numbers, maximising player density, and crafting immersive gameplay experiences.
Embedded seamlessly within a client's in-house team, we collaborate harmoniously to turn dreams into reality. Our portfolio boasts groundbreaking games developed in collaboration with major studios worldwide. As a fully remote studio with colleagues across the globe, we value and emphasise clear, continuous, and transparent communication as highly as technical skills.
We are looking for an Audio Lead who can own the creation, implementation, and polish of all in-game audio, from sound effects and voiceovers to music integration. This is a hands-on creative and technical role, where you’ll work closely with designers, programmers, and artists to deliver rich, immersive soundscapes. You’ll also coordinate with external audio partners to ensure consistent quality and seamless integration, making sure our projects sound as good as they look and play.
Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain the audio vision for the project in collaboration with the wider development team.
- Create and implement sound effects, dialogue, and music in Unreal Engine using tools such as Blueprints, audio cues, and attenuation settings.
- Work with industry-standard middleware (Wwise, FMOD) to ensure audio is optimized and fully integrated.
- Collaborate closely with design, art, and narrative teams to ensure audio supports and enhances gameplay.
- Coordinate and provide feedback to external audio partners, composers, and voice talent.
- Ensure consistent audio quality, style, and performance across the entire game.
- Troubleshoot and optimize audio assets for performance and memory constraints.
- 5 years of experience as an Audio Lead or Senior Sound Designer on at least one shipped AAA/AA or high-quality indie title.
- Strong Unreal Engine audio implementation experience (blueprints, audio cues, attenuation settings, etc.).
- Strong portfolio/reel demonstrating high-quality sound design and integration.
- Deep knowledge of audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD) and DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Reaper, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Passion for games and understanding of how audio impacts player experience.
- Competitive salary range of £50,000 - £70,000 per annum.
- Established career ladder with progression opportunities, increased responsibilities, and compensation.
- Fully remote role, enabling you to work from anywhere while collaborating with top games in the industry.
- Work alongside our senior leadership team, which will inspire and mentor you.
- The chance to be part of our exciting and passionate team.
