Job Description:
AfID is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in assurance services for international institutional donors such as the Gates Foundation, EC, United Nations, and The World Bank. These unique and rewarding audit assignments are suitable for experienced qualified audit professionals with grant audit experience who enjoy diverse travel experiences, meeting and supporting a broad range of inspiring people, and supporting worthwhile causes.
Role overview
Complete international grant expenditure and/or VFM audits for a diverse range of projects funded by international donor institutions, including emergency aid, long-term development in sectors like agriculture, health, infrastructure, and commercial projects such as SME development or technical research. Assignments typically last 1-3 weeks and are based across Europe and the developing world. These are offered on an assignment basis, planned one to two months in advance. There is no guaranteed period of work, and contractors can be based outside the UK but must be able to work in the EU.
Requirements
- Qualified ACA / ACCA or equivalent
- Grant management, audit, and reporting experience with international institutions
- Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse clients and beneficiaries
- Interest in international development and funding structures
- Fluency in a second language (not essential)
- Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
- Resilience and adaptability
- Internationally recognized audit qualification preferable
Personal attributes
- At least 5-10 years of audit experience
- Ability to work under pressure; strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Sound technical and analytical skills, report writing, and presentation skills
- Passion for international travel and development; willingness to work internationally
