AWS Cloud Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer with approximately 5+ years of experience to work on our exciting mission-focused work in Defence and Security. The right candidate will have a mindset focused on outcomes, not just deliverables - and be committed to enabling mission success for End Users. This role suits somebody who has completed AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or has similar experience. This role is hybrid, with a mixture of three days a week working from either home or our Bristol HQ, plus two days per week working on customer sites in the Gloucester/Worcester area.

Key responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Users and Stakeholders to design and implement mission-specific solutions in a Cloud-native environment.
  • Build and maintain solutions using Terraform and following IAC best practices.
  • Ensure solutions meet stakeholders' security and compliance requirements.

Essential skills and experience

  • Experience building and running solutions in an assured environment for Defence, Govt, or Public Sector.
  • Experience working collaboratively in Teams doing Scrum or Kanban.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or comparable experience (5y+)
  • Hands-on experience of services such as EC2, ECR, ECS/EKS, SSM, and at least one managed database service (SQL/NoSQL/caching).
  • Hands on experience with Terraform and CI/CD tooling (ideally GitHub Enterprise) and able to help the Team evolve better GitOps practices.
  • Experience in multi-account environments, experience of AWS Organisations and AWS Control Tower highly desirable.
  • Proficient building and deploying versioned containers in a managed container service.
  • Experienced Linux user/administrator, able to write some Bash and/or Python.
