HMRC Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) Group is responsible for HMRC’s IT estate, including building and running IT services, leading digital transformation projects, and delivering operational support to our colleagues and customers. The live services we provide enable billions of pounds of tax to be collected, benefits to be paid to customers in need, and ensure the smooth movement of goods into and out of the UK. We are relied upon to deliver to a high standard to ensure the smooth running of the department for our colleagues and millions of HMRC customers.
This role sits within Finance, Portfolio, Performance and Organisational Transformation (FPPOT) and covers the full remit of CDIO teams. The briefing team plays a key role in preparing briefings both for and on behalf of the Director General – we prepare discussion points for meetings, drafts of submissions to send to Permanent Secretaries or Ministers. We work flexibly, so your role will include a mix of core products which you lead on regularly, and supporting colleagues with their briefings or ad-hoc requests.
Draft high-quality communications products including Quarterly Business Reviews, Business Planning and Commitments. Understand key data sources and systems and learn how to draw on these to prepare and assure figures for briefings and public reporting.
Collaborate and build good working relationships with lines of business to inform briefing lines.
Work closely with others in the Director General Private Office and Planning and Performance Team to ensure CDIO’s messages are consistent and our narrative credible.
Take an active approach to personal development and make a positive contribution to building a high performing team and directorate.
Support and mentor colleagues in the team and the business.
