Business Analyst – Education Services | South East England | £400 per day, Outside IR35 | Hybrid role, 1-2 days onsite | 3 month initial contract

About the role

Our Client, a forward-thinking Local Authority, is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support strategic improvements across its education services, with a strong focus on developing robust business cases that drive system enhancements and service transformation.

This is a pivotal role working closely with service leads across Early Years, Education Welfare, and School Transport, ensuring that all business cases are evidence-based, achievable, and aligned with the Council’s digital transformation priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of business cases for priority education service and system improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements, identifying opportunities for efficiency, service quality, and compliance.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based documentation including cost/benefit analysis to support decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment of business cases with the Council’s strategic objectives and digital transformation agenda.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on MRI (Capita One), including portals and forms.
  • Support change management and knowledge transfer across teams where enhancements are approved.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within local authority education services.
  • Strong track record in developing and presenting business cases for system and service enhancements.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRI (Capita One), including configuration and portal development.
  • Understanding of workflows in Early Years, Education Welfare, and School Transport.
  • Skilled in requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and business case presentation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

  • Business cases are required for several identified improvements; experience in scoping, building, and delivering such cases is essential.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to a wider programme of service and digital transformation across the Council.
