Business Development Director
Location: UK, Remote
Travel: Occasional UK-wide client travel
We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to spearhead new client acquisition and revenue growth within the UK financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of selling high-value consulting services into payments companies, retail banks, and risk/compliance firms. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the go-to-market strategy, nurturing senior client relationships, and driving commercial success in a rapidly evolving regulatory and digital landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive sales strategy to grow advisory and consulting revenue across the UK financial services sector.
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with C-level stakeholders in payments, retail banking, and compliance organizations.
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline across digital transformation, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strategic advisory projects.
- Collaborate with service line leaders, SMEs, and delivery teams to shape compelling value propositions and bespoke client solutions.
- Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes (e.g., PSD2, AMLD, FCA guidelines), and emerging technologies impacting the payments and banking sectors.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client workshops to enhance market visibility and thought leadership.
- Provide accurate sales forecasting, reporting, and CRM pipeline management.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in business development or consultative sales within a top-tier consulting firm, fintech, or solutions provider.
- Demonstrable success in selling into UK-based payments providers, challenger and Tier 1 banks, or RegTech/Risk firms.
- Strong understanding of key industry challenges including open banking, fraud & AML compliance, digital transformation, and operational resilience.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with C-suite decision-makers and navigate complex sales cycles.
- Deep commercial acumen with a consultative, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to align internal teams around client opportunities.
