As the Business Development Manager - Highways, you will report to the Business Development Director, Highways, and be responsible for achieving new orders to meet targets within Telent's Highways business. Your focus will be on business development and opportunity qualification activities to achieve growth targets through contract renewal and new customer acquisition. You will lead virtual teams to meet strategic objectives, own an account plan, and contribute to the Highways business strategy, including defining target markets, contracts, and customers to secure profitable growth.
The role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to secure new multi-million-pound contracts and maintaining relationships with existing customers.
Your responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and developing sales relationships with existing and new customers
- Developing an opportunity pipeline supporting growth aspirations
- Achieving profitable orders from existing and new customers
- Contributing to proposals, presentations, bid submissions, and marketing communications
- Keeping the CRM system updated
- Directing marketing activities
- Maintaining customer satisfaction scores

- Ownership of profitable opportunities
- Promoting solutions-based sales
- Collaborating with bidding and technical teams
- Managing order forecasts
- Analyzing the marketplace and competitors
- Developing sales strategies and win-themes
- Improving proposal quality
- Ensuring smooth order handovers
- Adhering to sales procedures
- Providing market feedback to engineering teams
- At least 10 years of sales/business development experience in the Highways market
- Experience in target market strategy and tender responses
- Engineering background or higher qualification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Full, clean driving license
- Financial acumen
