CAD Technician/Structural Detailer – Exciting Engineering Projects

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)
Salary: £35 – 45,000, DOE + Benefits

The Role

As a Structural Detailer, you’ll transform engineering designs into clear, precise drawings for fabrication and construction. You’ll work closely with engineers, project teams, and the workshop to ensure high-quality, buildable solutions for structures including platforms, gantries, stairs, and steel support systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Interpreting engineering and architectural drawings and specifications
• Creating accurate 3D models and detailed drawings for manufacturing and site erection
• Producing General Arrangement drawings for client approvals
• Generating material and bolt lists to support estimating and procurement
• Coordinating with multiple departments to deliver projects efficiently
• Participating in site visits and surveys where required
• Supporting continuous improvement within the detailing team

About You

We’re keen to hear from candidates with:

• Tekla Structures experience (highly desirable) OR strong proficiency in other 3D CAD or detailing software
• Solid understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
• Good communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders
• A proactive, positive approach and ability to manage your own workload
