Job Title: Capital Actuary (Maternity Cover)

Reporting to: Head of International Capital Modelling

Position Type: Fixed Term Contract

Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days working remote

Job Purpose

Assisting the Head of International Capital Modelling in all aspects of capital modelling with an approved Internal Model for our Lloyd’s Syndicate and non-approved models for our UK entity and Luxembourg entity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regular updates to the ECM and reporting of these results to management.
  • Collaborate with other teams to perform data updates, re-parameterisations, methodology reviews.
  • Prepare management info including Strategic Risk Metrics, visualisations for committees, etc.
  • Help identify and prioritise development areas in the ECM and play a lead role in testing, implementing and communicating assigned development items.

Performance Objectives

  • 3 months: Be able to perform ECM updates such that the update is accurate and a brief summary of the movements observed is available for a more senior colleague.
  • 6 months: Play a key role in implementing an improvement in the either the model workflow or the model methodology / parameterisation.

Essential Skills and Experience Specification

  • Ideally 3 years’ experience in an actuarial or risk role in general insurance.
  • Capital modelling experience in general insurance OR London Market experience.
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Committed to the role with willingness to take accountability.

Desirable

  • Experience in ReMetrica.
  • Ability to set and manage detailed workplans with issues identified and communicated in good time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the candidate able to talk confidently and concisely about capital modelling and its place in the wider business.
  • High personal standards with a desire to achieve excellence.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment.
  • Programming aptitude / experience, particularly Python and R.
