The Role

Masabi is hiring a Chief Architect, a collaborative, hands-on technical leader to guide our architectural strategy and shape the future of our multi-tenant SaaS platform.

You’ll be our go-to technical partner: trusted for clarity, systems thinking, and your ability to bring people with you. Working closely with our CPO and VP of Engineering, you’ll ensure our architecture supports scale, resilience, and developer experience, while staying grounded in day-to-day delivery.

You’ll lead and mentor our team of Principal Engineers, embed clear architectural standards, and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI/ML across our platform and engineering practices.

Location

Remote-first (UK-based). Occasional travel for planning sessions or team events.

Responsibilities

• Shape and evolve our architectural vision and principles
• Guide the direction of our SaaS platform, with a focus on AI, data, and scale
• Embed reliability, security, and performance into core design decisions
• Stay engaged with the stack, driving standards, not bottlenecks
• Support confident delivery across squads through partnership and alignment
• Champion Data and AI development, guiding standards, contributing to code, and enabling scalable, responsible implementation
• Guide responsible implementation and tooling adoption
• Help teams identify AI-powered capabilities that can scale

Team & Technical Influence

• Mentor and coach Principal Engineers and foster cross-team alignment
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to align platform strategy with technical sustainability and scale
• Promote inclusive, technically excellent, and sustainable delivery culture

Security & Compliance

• Work with platform and security teams to meet standards (SOC2, ISO27001, PCI)
• Embed secure-by-design and observability practices

About You

• Hands-on, empathetic technical leader, experienced in distributed systems, platform-scale SaaS, and architectural ownership
• Someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and can communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, and commercial stakeholders alike
• Experience working in high-availability, regulated, or security-conscious environments
• Passionate about AI/ML and data-driven engineering, whether in product, tooling, or ops
• Mentored senior engineers and driven technical alignment in growing orgs
• Someone who leads with empathy, humility, and pragmatism
