About us
We are an ambitious, progressive local authority committed to tackle the climate emergency and address sustainability. Our climate emergency team co-ordinates the climate emergency response and supports the delivery of a variety of related sustainability projects.
The role
Full time, 37 hours per week, 2-year fixed term contract until 30 September 2027. Hybrid working is possible with minimum of two days in the office at 1 Time Square per week.
We are seeking a motivated, well organised and creative team player with a knowledge of climate change and sustainability to join our climate emergency team.
The primary focus of this role will initially be on the development and implementation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The postholder will play a key role in supporting the council's EV strategy, including contributing to the delivery of Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) projects.
You will help support, develop and deliver a range of climate and sustainability-related initiatives and assist the team to co-ordinate and report progress on the Council’s new Climate Emergency Action Plan. You will participate in and provide secretarial support for various ‘in house’ climate and sustainability-related project groups, and for the external Warrington Climate Emergency Commission. You will play an active part in progressing specific projects including staff and public engagement and Carbon Literacy training.
What's needed?
- We are looking for a creative and motivated individual with Knowledge of climate change and sustainability policy and practice with an understanding of the role of local authorities in this sphere.
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Experience of inter-disciplinary work
- The ability to contribute to and implement change
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy
- A degree or experience in a relevant/related discipline.
