Position
We are seeking a Clinical Assurance Lead - Lot 4 to play a key role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and clinical integrity of assessments delivered by PFAS on behalf of the DWP and in line with the contract targets. This role is central to maintaining public confidence in the assessment process and ensuring that clinical decisions are evidence‑based, fair, and aligned with DWP policy and national clinical standards which support the overall claimant journey.
Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical assurance function for the PIP contract, ensuring assessments meet high standards of clinical quality and consistency
- Ensure alignment with national clinical guidelines and DWP policy
- Support PFAS in meeting all contractual targets for PIP delivery
- Proactively identify trends and areas for improvement and lead initiatives to address them
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to Quality Assurance Leads
- Communicate any risk to achieving the TPLs and present innovative actions to improve which support PFAS ability to achieve consistency
- Monitor and manage risks, proposing actions to achieve consistency and performance targets
- Ensure clinical governance processes are applied consistently across all sites
- Promote a clinically engaged workforce through leadership and collaboration
- Facilitate calibration of quality assurance across sites and lots
- Recognise trends in clinical performance/external QA and ensure these are communicated to all
- Report to the Head of Clinical Governance and Quality on team performance and maintain PIP assessment approval
Requirements
To be seriously considered for this role, you must have:
Qualifications
- Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (E)
- Paramedic registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (E)
- Registered Nurse (E) and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Experience
- Proven experience in conducting PIP assessments and applying related clinical standards
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality assurance, clinical auditing, or report checking
- Demonstrable experience of senior clinical management to achieve quality and productivity TPLs within the contract
- Strong understanding of HAAS clinical and operational procedures and clinical governance principles
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and proficient in using Microsoft Office and data analysis tools
- Ability to interpret BI quality data to identify trends and drive improvement initiatives
Skills
- Demonstrates strong clinical judgment and a solid understanding of disability assessment principles
- Able to interpret complex clinical data, identify trends, and assess potential risks
- Maintains high standards of accuracy and consistency in all clinical documentation
- Experienced in leading and motivating clinical teams, managing performance, and driving continuous quality improvement
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, ensuring complex information is easy to understand
- Builds positive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies
- Proactive in identifying challenges and implementing effective solutions
- Adaptable to changing priorities and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Confident in using clinical systems, audit tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Other Information
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000
Position: Full‑time, permanent
Location: Remote (work from home with occasional travel to a PFAS site as and when required, ideally monthly on rotation)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30 am – 5 pm)
