You will lead on the psychiatric elements of our ADHD pathway — from reviewing assessment data and confirming diagnoses, to initiating and overseeing medication management. Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you will ensure our services remain safe, evidence-based, and person-centred, while also providing expert guidance on complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
ADHD Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for ADHD using standardised tools (e.g. DIVA, ACE).
- Review pre-assessment data to inform diagnostic decision-making.
- Confirm diagnoses and deliver clear, sensitive feedback to clients and families.
- Provide oversight and expert opinion on complex or co-occurring presentations.
Medication Management & Treatment Oversight
- Initiate, titrate, and monitor ADHD medication in line with NICE, GMC, and RTN Medical protocols.
- Conduct follow-up consultations to assess treatment effectiveness and manage side effects.
- Collaborate with nurse prescribers and other MDT members to ensure safe, effective treatment pathways.
Post-Diagnostic Support & Clinical Guidance
- Contribute to post-diagnostic support plans, including psychoeducation and onward referrals.
- Act as a point of clinical expertise, supporting colleagues with ADHD-related presentations.
- Help design and deliver high-quality ADHD pathways.
Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all clinical practice meets RTN Medical, NICE, CQC, and GMC standards.
- Take part in audits, peer reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns and clinical risks appropriately.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Supervise and support MDT members, contributing to reflective practice and case discussions.
- Stay informed on developments in ADHD research and psychiatric best practice.
- Contribute to service improvement and innovation projects.
About You
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Section 12 approved.
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification clinical experience.
- Extensive experience in ADHD assessment, diagnosis, and medication management across the lifespan.
- Proficiency in recognised ADHD diagnostic tools (e.g. DIVA, ACE, Conners).
- In-depth knowledge of NICE guidelines, GMC standards, and ADHD care pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience offering guidance, supervision, or mentorship to other clinicians.
- Compassionate, person-centred approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and sensitively.
- Organised, reliable, and committed to continuous professional development
- Experience across both NHS and private sector services.
- Additional training in ADHD diagnostic tools.
