Main duties of the job
In this role,you will have experience in undertaking evidence based psychologicalassessments and interventions with children and families. In addition, you willhave an understanding of trauma-informed practices and relational approaches.
Asa psychologist in the team the role will involve consultation to social careand other colleagues, facilitating reflective practice, and training delivery.There will also be opportunities to be involved in service development.
Thepost holders will receive a comprehensive induction which will includeopportunities to shadow and to co-work. The successful candidate/s will alsoreceive a range of in-house specialist training in addition to externaltraining in the AIM 3 assessment model.
Thepost holders will receive regular clinical supervision from a Senior ClinicalPsychologist in CATS, in addition to ongoing opportunities for co-working andtaking part in regular team case discussions. The team has close links to theUniversity of Surrey Clinical Psychology Doctoral programme and regularlyprovides placements to trainees.
Thepost holders will join a well-established and valued team who are passionateabout the service and the work that we undertake.
Youwill need to be able to travel independently around the county, including toareas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and poolbikes are available and having a driving license is highly desirable.
About us
Following the transfer in of ourspecialist psychological services into West Sussex County Council, we are at anexciting point in the process and are looking to recruit two permanent ClinicalPsychologists to the Consultation Assessment & Treatment Service (CATS)within the Community Psychological Service.
CATS is a Psychology-led service whichis embedded within West Sussex Childrens Social Care. The service provides arange of specialist psychological assessments and therapeutic interventionswith children, young people and their families/carers where concerns have beenraised about the child engaging in harmful sexual behaviour (HSB). It is anexciting time to join the service as we are widening our service offer within ChildrensSocial Care and the successful candidates will be part of this service development.Some of these developments are within the field of HSB and some will be abroader psychological offer. In addition to direct work, the service providesconsultation, training and reflective practice groups.
Job responsibilities
You will be working as a member of the Consultation, Assessment and Treatment Service, providing a high-quality specialist psychological service to children, young people, their parents/carers and their network. Work will include undertaking psychologically informed assessments and therapeutic interventions in addition to providing consultation to multi-agency professionals, including social workers, teachers and youth justice officers.
Additional responsibilities will include supporting the team in service development and in the writing and delivery of training.
As a clinical Psychologist for our service, you will:
Deliver evidence-informed, integrative, and systemic interventions.
Work closely within a multi-disciplinary/multiagency environment to design and implement innovative service models.
Champion a compassionate, trauma-aware, relational approach at all levels of the system.
Help shape the future of our Psychological Services Hub, contributing to its growth and impact.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Professional Doctorate level training in Clinical Psychology and be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experience
- Experience of working with children, young people and their families and good working knowledge of the service population or similar.
- Clinical expertise in delivering psychological assessment and therapy with children, young people and their families presenting with a range of complex psychological needs, who may be mistrustful of services.
- Effective communication skills, skills in consultation to other professionals and in designing and delivering training.
