About The Role
As a Data Platform Engineer at Aberdeen, you will be at the heart of building and evolving a modern, cloud-based data platform using Azure, Snowflake, DBT, and Microsoft Fabric. Working within a Data Mesh architecture, you will enable decentralized data ownership and empower domain teams through self-service data capabilities. Your expertise will drive the design, implementation, and automation of scalable, secure data solutions, ensuring high performance, governance, and compliance. This is a pivotal role where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative data products that fuel business growth and unlock meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a Data Mesh architecture, enabling decentralized data ownership and collaboration across domain teams.
- Develop and maintain scalable cloud data infrastructure using Azure, Snowflake, DBT, and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring performance and automation.
- Build self-service data platforms and automate data pipelines to empower domain teams to manage their own data products independently.
- Collaborate with teams to define data product standards, governance policies, and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize data warehousing and orchestration workflows for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability across distributed data products.
- Provide technical guidance, monitoring, and support to domain teams, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure services, including resource groups, networking, Data Factory, Key Vault, and Azure Fabric.
- Proven expertise in Snowflake administration, including database/user management, warehouses, role-based access control, and data sharing.
- Solid experience with DBT for data transformation, including best practices for modular, testable, and version-controlled data models.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code deployments, especially using Terraform for Azure, Snowflake, and related platforms.
- Experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including YAML pipeline creation, artifact management, and automated secrets handling.
- Good scripting skills in SQL, PowerShell, and Python, combined with a strong understanding of security, compliance, and agile delivery methodologies.
