Our coastal flood risk modelling advisors provide expert technical advice to help build a country more resilient to climate change. As a Coastal Flood Risk Modelling Advisor you will provide expert advice to our colleagues and a range of partners. Your advice will contribute to their decision making on how to appropriately manage coastal flood risk at a community or national scale, taking into account the impacts of flooding, and our dynamic coastline. Responsibilities

Be expected to provide expert advice, both internal and external to the Environment Agency, on coastal flood risk modelling and the value of coastal evidence. Demonstrate skills, knowledge and experience of building and running wave transformation, wave overtopping and inundation models. Have knowledge and experience in a variety of coastal modelling software and relevant methodologies / guidance. Undertake technical quality assurance to support a range of outcomes including delivering the Asset Management programme. Provide expert technical input to national coastal modelling research and development projects. Apply continuous improvement techniques to improve existing ways of working. Provide technical leadership and coach / mentor others.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Competence 4 – Numerical Modelling and Forecasting Coastal Processes and Modelling. Provide an example of how you have applied your technical knowledge of coastal processes and modelling to deliver a solution to a problem.
