Commercial Manager

The Commercial Function is accountable for the overall commercial risk framework in relation to client (sales) deals, contracts end-to-end, including any third parties and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for commercial activities in support of Programme/Transformation projects, ensuring commercial deal shape is well defined and supply chain contracts are aligned to deliver.
- Drafting of client and supplier contracts and/or amendments, and where required, setting up new internal/external supplier contracts to support the Programme.
- Manage and support Fixed Price implementation activities, working closely with the Programme team to ensure Milestone deliverables are on track, accurately reported to the Client on time, and delivery risks/delays are managed promptly. Any scope or cost changes should be managed in accordance with the Change Control process.
- Oversee the commercial management of the supply chain to ensure delivery of the Fixed Price Programme aligns with requirements and budget.
- Participate in and contribute to Programme governance meetings, escalation processes, and client meetings related to commercial matters.
- Ensure contracts, contract variations, and new projects are governed and approved according to Capita policy prior to submission or signature.
- Identify, manage, and report key commercial and legal risks, communicating legal risks to the Legal function and maintaining ongoing support and liaison.
- Support and advise on commercial disputes, lead settlement negotiations, and define settlement terms, except in cases of formal dispute or litigation.
About You
- Experienced commercial professional with a proven track record in bidding for, negotiating, and managing significant sales and supplier contracts.
- Possesses strong commercial and contracts experience, with a demonstrable history of managing pre- and post-contract activities.
- Skilled in defining, driving, and overseeing commercial and contract governance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels, including senior management and functional teams.
- Acts as a cross-functional leader and internal influencer within the business and Commercial function.
