Overview
Remote – UK Based Only (with some meetings in London, typically twice per month). Competitive salary, depending on experience, plus a good benefits package.
The Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager will be responsible for driving and establishing best-in-class corporate communications practices at SECCo. This role is critical in establishing SECCo as a leading voice on a range of industry-wide strategic initiatives, ensuring coherent and relevant communications across all channels. The role will allow you to apply your experience and vision to shape and contribute to complex industry changes.
Responsibilities
- Be a self-starter - able to work on own initiative and work with and direct SECCo’s service providers to provide a seamless communication approach of high quality and clarity.
- Feed in / implement coherent and comprehensive communications strategies –implementing communications strategy for SECCo, which recognises SECCo’s target audiences, whilst ensuring consistent and impactful messaging and communications.
- Support delivery of SECCo’s communications and engagement plan across all channels.
- Manage/coordinate a cross business/cross service provider team – leading service providers and colleagues to work together in consort to co-ordinate communications messaging and to deliver on a range of corporate and communications objectives and KPIs.
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day website content and updates via SECCo’s CMS, ensuring accuracy, clarity and compliance with brand standards.
- Coordinate the production of newsletters, announcements and stakeholder bulletins.
- Draft and edit accessible written content – news items, blogs, event materials and briefing notes – for internal and external audiences.
- Support the development of corporate materials including reports, presentations and visual collateral
- Manage content calendars and contribute to message planning and stakeholder mapping.
- Coordinate, monitor and report on communications performance using analytics and feedback tools.
- Liaise with service providers (e.g. design, digital, events) to ensure consistent and timely delivery.
- Assist in preparing materials for key SECCo events such as the SEC Engagement Day, Board communications and industry workshops.
- Maintain document and asset libraries, ensuring brand compliance and accessibility.
Qualifications
- A demonstrable track record of taking the initiative around communication strategies and plans.
- A clear ability to bring together cross business and service providers to work together collaboratively and constructively on company communications.
- A passion for working in a business with a clear focus on value, quality and consumer focus.
- Superior communication abilities to assemble complex ideas, issues and observations into clear and simple explanations.
- All-round experience in communications strategy development and creating senior-level communications, both written and oral.
- In-depth awareness and experience of stakeholder management processes and tools.
- Good understanding of the GB energy industry, energy-related policies, regulation, and codes, and the broader decarbonization agenda.
- Proactive, positive, open-minded attitude; experience in using publishing software and tools; willingness to learn.
- 3–5 years’ experience in communications, marketing or stakeholder engagement (preferably within an energy, regulatory or technical environment).
- Proven writing, editing and proofreading skills for multiple audiences.
- Hands-on experience managing content on websites (WordPress or similar CMS) and using design or publishing tools.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging messages.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- A collaborative, proactive and positive approach, with confidence liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
