Job Description We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Compliance Officer to help shape and mature the compliance function at Version 1. This is a strategic opportunity to work directly with the Head of Risk & Compliance and the DPO to build a robust compliance framework that supports our business objectives, regulatory obligations, and ethical standards. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in compliance and data privacy, and who is eager to contribute to the development of a high-impact function. Internal company knowledge and experience will be considered strongly in lieu of formal compliance or privacy experience, especially for candidates who have demonstrated cross-functional collaboration, attention to detail, and a commitment to governance. Key, Experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles is beneficial but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Co-develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls across the organisation.
- Support the DPO in fulfilling data protection obligations, including DPIAs, breach response, privacy training, and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations.
- Lead internal compliance reviews and support external audits.
- Collaborate with business units to embed compliance into operational processes.
- Contribute to the development of compliance training and awareness programmes.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of compliance registers and reporting dashboards.
- Assist business units in the development of mitigation plans to address identified compliance risks.
- Ability to assist on the risk responsibilities of the team as required.
- Coordinate and undertake continuous improvement activities and promote best practice across the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding or interest in GDPR and data privacy principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and influence across teams.
- Professional certifications are a plus but not required.
- Internal candidates with strong organisational knowledge and a passion for governance are highly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with ISO, SOC, NIST is beneficial but not required.
- Understanding of AI is beneficial but not essential.
