Stepping up in the electric power industry? Join DNV for a dynamic and international career at the top of the electric-power-system world!
We are looking for a Consultant/R&D /R&D Engineer to enhance our Smart Cable Guard team to help our customers monitor their cable grid effectively.
Smart Cable Guard (SCG) is a real-time, multi-functional monitoring system for distribution power cable grids. The SCG system has two unique functions: 1) detecting and locating weak spots using partial discharge measurement, and 2) detecting and locating faults in power cables. And more functions are being developed. The system has been rolled out in more than 20 countries across 5 continents. Want to know more about Smart Cable Guard? Click here!
When we sell SCG, we do not only sell “a box”, but we strive to help our customers get the most out of Smart Cable Guard and to provide insights into the condition of their distribution grids. Each new customer where SCG is deployed brings new challenges with respect to how the grid design influences the (high-frequency) measurements performed by SCG. We collaborate with our customers to maximize the benefits of SCG within their grid and organization. Additionally, we bring the knowledge and experience gained in this way back into the SCG product by optimizing existing features and developing new ones.
This role can be based at our DNV office in Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Columbus, OH, Medford, MA, or any other DNV locations, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. I'll share more details about the role-specific requirements during the interview process.

- Collaborate with customers to investigate and analyze SCG’s performance in their grids, identifying areas for improvement
- Travel to customers (worldwide) for face-to-face meetings and perform on-site inspections
- Work with SCG’s Engineering and Insights teams to improve existing features and develop new features
