Contract Manager

Airswift is currently recruiting for a Contract Manager to be based in one of their clients' UK offices on a hybrid basis.
Mining industry experience is essential for this role – candidates must have a demonstrable track record supporting mining projects.
Purpose of the role: to provide Contract Management expertise in contracting activities at a senior level, in accordance with the Project Execution Plan and Customer Business Management Systems for Supply Chain Activities. The candidate should have strong leadership skills and experience in setting up, drafting, and gaining approval for Contract plans and procedures, managing the entire procurement process for complex building construction works, and leading a team on projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Manage the Contracts/Subcontracts team assigned to the project(s).
- Provide contract management expertise to the project(s).
SPECIFIC PRE-CONTRACT ACTIVITIES
Activities performed in the Home office up to the award of Contracts include:
- Contribute to and advise on procurement strategy for construction works.
- Prepare and negotiate Non-Disclosure/Confidentiality Agreements.
- Compile Solicitation and Expression of Interest Documents.
- Perform Market Analysis of returns.
- Prequalify Contractors.
- Compile RFP/ITT evaluation plans.
- Initiate and chair RFP/ITT/ITB kick-off meetings.
- Compile Individual Contract Plans.
- Prepare and compile RFP/ITT/ITB packages.
- Coordinate visits by bidders to the project site.
- Facilitate evaluation and commercial assessments.
- Recommend awards and compile contract packages.
POST-CONTRACT ACTIVITIES
Activities between contract award and close-out include:
- Participate in pre-construction meetings.
- Manage correspondence, site instructions, and change registers.
- Maintain securities and track expiry.
- Provide contractual interpretation and oversight.
- Ensure contractual compliance and manage meetings.
- Handle claims, variations, and contract amendments.
- Perform contract close-out procedures and documentation.
AUTHORITY/RESPONSIBILITY
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Manage resource allocation and contract documentation.
- Observe HSE rules and report hazards.
CO-OPERATION AND COMMUNICATION
Maintain good relations with various project stakeholders, including:
- Contracts Director, Project Director, Project Managers & Engineers, Construction Managers, and others.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or Law (or equivalent).
- Member/Associate or Fellow of a recognized professional institution (e.g., RICS).
Expertise:
- Extensive experience managing pre- and post-contract processes.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to operate in complex environments.
- Proficiency with relevant software tools.
Professional Knowledge:
- Minimum 2-3 years in the mining industry, preferably more.
- Experience with standard forms of contract (FIDIC, NEC, etc.).
- Leadership experience in contract management.
