Overview

The Environment Agency and its Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) are seeking a Contract Manager to support the delivery of ambitious fleet targets and drive tangible change. You will work within a national fleet team and lead tender processes, contract strategy, and supplier performance management while ensuring environmental, cost‑effective and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a varied programme of purchase and service contracts on behalf of the Environment Agency and Defra Partners.
  • Set contract strategy, lead tender processes and award contracts, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Oversee contracts through the full lifecycle, reducing environmental footprints and maintaining cost‑effective fleets.
  • Respond to incidents, undertake required training and support incident response processes.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, organisational and influencing skills.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and suppliers.
  • Forward thinker, able to identify opportunities and risks and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of procurement processes within Defra is desirable.

Additional Information

Full Time contract – flexible working patterns, job share and remote working are supported. The post is national and the location is flexible; you may be required to work in EA offices and attend national meetings.
