Contract Senior Cyber Security Analyst vacancy in Hybrid - London 60% on site

Region: London and South East, Remote/Home working

We’re representing a government department seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to take a leading role in incident response and cyber defence operations.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing cyber defence function within a central government environment, where your expertise directly contributes to safeguarding critical national infrastructure and services.

The Role

As a Senior Security Analyst, you will:

• Lead investigations into security alerts and potential cyber incidents.
• Conduct forensic analysis across systems, files, networks, and cloud environments.
• Coordinate and implement containment, eradication, and recovery actions.
• Support wider incident management and post-incident review activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve incident response processes and playbooks.
• Act as a technical escalation point and mentor junior security analysts.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support 24/7 cyber defence operations.

Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience investigating and responding to cyber incidents.

• Strong knowledge of EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response) and SIEM tools.
• Hands-on experience with Splunk or equivalent platforms.
• Proven experience coordinating response in large organisations.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrable ability to lead and mentor others.

Desirable

• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
• Exposure to Agile working environments.
