Overview
Neharika Srivastava is the Director Legal at Aon. She provides strategic support to Aon’s business and corporate functions on a range of complex legal and regulatory issues in India. She leads the regional legal hub and is actively involved in initiatives related to Women Empowerment, Diversity & Inclusion, CSR & Social Impact, and Global Standardisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal transactional and advisory support to Aon’s HR consulting business in India, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, and transactional support to Aon’s risk business in the US, UK, and Canada.
- Be part of the regional decision-making process, regularly interact with senior leadership, and be accountable for the outcome of legal projects and strategy plans.
- Grow and lead the regional legal hub (from 1 resource in 2014 to over 35 resources across five continents) covering legal, compliance and privacy work.
- Draft, vet and negotiate contracts; create and update playbooks and templates; standardize operating models and documentation; and contribute to budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance programs (e.g., ISO 27001), data privacy, HR and labour law compliance, and provide privacy training to colleagues; lead initiatives in governance and security.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives such as Women Empowerment, Diversity & Inclusion, CSR & Social Impact, and Global Standardization; participate in POSH Committee, Women’s Network and related governance bodies.
- Allocate about 60% of time to people management and business development, including identifying growth opportunities and building client and internal relationships; lead the standardization of processes and documentation to enable faster transitions.
- Drafting and negotiating contracts and maintaining playbooks and templates; focus on elevating the capabilities of the team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical: Operations, project management (lean and green belt), financial and commercial acumen, AI, basics of coding.
- Leadership: Client focus, drive execution, accountability and ownership, thought leadership, decision making, critical thinking, problem solving.
- Operational: Prioritization and time management, conflict resolution, people and workforce management, efficiency improvement, change management, transitions and service delivery.
- Certifications and training: IAPP CIPM (privacy management); Harvard Business Program; company-sponsored trainings; exposure to classroom, mentoring and experiential learning; ongoing webinars and workshops.
Typical Day
A typical day blends strategic planning, team collaboration, and problem-solving. Mornings may include reviewing calendars, reading legal articles and industry news, and engaging with senior leadership in APAC hours. The day focuses on people management, business development, standardizing operating models and documentation, budgeting and forecasting, and drafting/negotiating contracts and updating playbooks and templates. Evenings often involve calls with stakeholders in the US and EMEA, with office presence twice a week.
