Join Argyll & Bute Council as a Council Accountant. Fully remote with IT kit provided. Up to £50 per hour, 35 hours per week, 10-month contract. Public sector role supporting social care and council services.

What you'll do

  • Budgeting and monitoring: support revenue and capital budgets for council and social care services.
  • Financial performance: provide analysis, insights, and clear reports to senior managers.
  • Governance and compliance: ensure financial controls and tax compliance are followed.
  • Corporate finance support: contribute to year-end, treasury, and financial planning tasks.

Must-have requirements

  • CCAB-qualified accountant
  • Public sector finance experience
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Confident presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to have

  • Finance experience in a council or social care (Children's or Adults)
  • Local government accounting knowledge
  • Experience with Oracle Financials or similar ERP
  • VAT awareness in a public sector context
