Cyber Security Engineer - Network Security

Role Overview Our cyber security engineers build and develop the technical security solutions that keep our airline and our customers safe from cyber‑attack. Working with BA colleagues around the world, the BA Cyber Team and IAG Tech, you’ll create and maintain capabilities that meet our requirements and respond to emerging threats. You will report to the Cyber Security Engineering Manager.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC).
What You’ll Do
Design and build security tools and capabilities to mitigate threats to British Airways, wherever they originate.
Align with threat and risk‑led strategy that enables BA to focus on what matters while minimising overheads.
Maintain a working understanding of modern attacker techniques and procedures, ensuring that existing and future tools are effective and proportionate.
Proactively assess the existing technical landscape on a continuous basis to ensure ongoing effective protection.
Keep up to date with industry trends and developments to ensure future technologies are ready to adopt as they mature.
Develop an understanding of the functions within the broader organisation and their respective priorities and needs.
What You’ll Bring to British Airways
Highly analytical with a methodical and structured approach and high attention to detail.
Excellent communicator, able to translate complex technical issues into approachable terms for all stakeholders.
Ability to review security reference architectures, patterns and guidance.
Ability to recognise priorities and guide others toward the accomplishment of strategic business goals.
Keen to learn new technologies.
Your Experience
Experience working at a senior level within a complex organisation is essential.
Strong technical security skills.
Working knowledge of network tools such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet (essential).
Knowledge of other security tools such as Qualys, Akamai, Valimail.
Working knowledge of cloud providers such as AWS and networking.
Ability to understand and develop coding languages such as Terraform, Python and KQL (or similar).
Recognised Cyber Security Certifications or Qualifications (desirable)
Experience with NIST or similar security framework(s).
