Overview

Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Data Analyst where you will be supporting analytics workstreams by gathering requirements, conducting analysis, and assisting with implementation, and collaborating with colleagues across teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform decision-making. The Data Analyst reports to the Principal Data Analyst, and the role is aligned to the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework: https://ddat-capability-framework.service.gov.uk/role/data-analyst#data-analyst. You’ll also be part of a dynamic team dedicated to helping people across the UK improve their financial wellbeing. Responsibilities

  • Applying a range of analytical tools and techniques to explore and interpret data.
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of measurement frameworks, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Conducting structured analysis and contributing to cross-functional analytical projects.
  • Using established technical tools and techniques to support data analysis.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and appropriate use of data and analysis.
  • Creating data visualisations and dashboards using business intelligence tools to communicate findings effectively.
  • Working with data engineers and product teams to support data collection, migration, and integration across systems.
  • Cleaning, aggregating, and preparing data for analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in using data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI, to effectively present insights.
  • Experience in data analysis within public and/or private sector organisations.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and collaborative working practices.
  • Proficiency in techniques for analysing data and generating actionable insights.
  • Experience in using programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Strong communication skills to translate data into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Understanding of business objectives and how to measure performance against them.
  • Awareness of data validation and verification processes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work within constraints.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security principles.
  • Familiarity with data governance and management practices.
  • Awareness of data modelling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques.
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance methods.
