About the FCA
The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive.
Join a purpose-driven team at the FCA, where we centre the consumer voice in shaping safer financial markets. Our Consumer Intelligence & Analytics (CI&A) team listens to what people are saying- across social media, review platforms and advice services- to understand experiences, highlight emerging risks and support thoughtful regulatory decisions.
We’re looking for a collaborative Data Analyst to enhance our social media monitoring, develop intuitive dashboards and data tools, and contribute to inclusive consumer insights. This role offers a supportive environment to grow your analytical skills while making a positive impact on millions of people.
What will you be doing?
- Managing and supporting our social media listening tool to capture and interpret consumer posts, reviews and comments
- Analysing data from multiple consumer sources to identify key themes, risks and early warning signals
- Designing and maintaining Tableau dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights to colleagues
- Preparing, transforming and combining datasets using Tableau, Python and SQL to support data-driven solutions
- Engaging with teams across the FCA to understand their needs and deliver relevant consumer intelligence
- Sharing the work of the Consumer Intelligence & Analytics team and contributing ideas to improve how we use data and tools
What you will get from the role
- Deepen your understanding of the FCA’s purpose-driven environment, while building strong relationships with data and business experts
- Be part of a team that values curiosity, care and continuous learning—giving you space to grow and contribute
- Explore creative approaches to data, using your expertise to generate outcomes that make a positive difference for consumers
Which skills are required?
We are a Disability Confident Employer; therefore, disabled people or individuals with long-term conditions who best meet the minimum criteria for a role will go through to the next stage of the recruitment process (to learn more about the Disability Confident Scheme, see the information in the applicant section).
Minimum
- Prior experience working with quantitative and/or qualitative data to create clear, engaging insights that support understanding
- Prior experience using data visualisation tools (ideally Tableau) and applying search techniques such as Boolean logic to explore patterns
- Prior experience communicating analysis in a way that’s easy to follow, both in writing and when presenting to others
Essential
- Strong understanding of data limitations and how to interpret findings with care and clarity
- Experience using social media listening platforms to explore consumer sentiment and emerging trends
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders to understand needs, shape priorities and support informed decision-making
- Ability to explore complex ideas and contribute to practical, sustainable solutions through communication and influence
- Well-organised and reliable, with a track record of meeting commitments and using tools like JIRA to support delivery
- Interest in consumer behaviour and a curiosity for spotting patterns, risks and opportunities in data
