Starting salary: Salary starting from £63,446 of band per annum dependent on skills and experience, plus excellent benefits package, and flexible working arrangements

Location: Brighton/hybrid (6 days per month in the office)
The role and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically knowledgeable professional to assume the position of Data Privacy and Compliance Team Lead (DPC TL). The individual will:
- Manage day-to-day activities of the Data Privacy and Compliance team, such as responding to subject access and freedom of information requests, prioritizing activity and escalating high-profile issues as needed.
- Provide coverage for Head of Data Privacy, Compliance and Cyber Assurance and TPR's Data Protection Officer, advising the Senior Information Risk Owner on high profile issues or during incidents.
- Maintain and improve the information security management system and our approach to information security assurance against ISO 27001:2022, NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework and other appropriate frameworks.
- Offer technical advice and guidance on privacy, Freedom of Information and security related matters.
- Support the development of a competent and capable team of senior Data Privacy and Compliance Practitioners through knowledge development and process improvement.
The role will provide the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders to further develop your influencing and problem-solving skills, ability to work in the face of uncertainty and make important decisions. Appropriate training to continue developing your technical knowledge will be available.
The role criteria
- Deep knowledge of data protection legislation, backed up by the relevant qualification, and an ability to translate that knowledge into operational requirements.
- Knowledge of the threat landscape, including cyber, and how it impacts effective information management and privacy as technology evolves.
- Pragmatic and collaborative approach to supporting the development of risk mitigation controls and solving complex, technical problems.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and peers to ensure the effective operational delivery of a data protection and second line information security function.
- Engaging and personable people manager committed to coaching and developing a diverse high performing team on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations or priorities, solve, develop new solutions and unblock issues within teams or departments.
The team
The Data Privacy and Compliance team is made up of four practitioners and three senior practitioners who have expertise across information security, information law compliance and incident management. They are led by the Head of Data Privacy, Compliance and Cyber Assurance.
We are going through an exciting period of evolution developing our approach to second line assurance to support the aims or the organisation and needs of wider government. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence that development and make a real contribution to keeping the organisation secure.
