About the Role:

Synechron UK is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead innovative initiatives within our Credit Risk Technology team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven solutions in the financial sector, focusing on developing advanced Machine Learning and Generative AI products. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end lifecycle management—from conceptualization to deployment and ongoing enhancement—of cutting‑edge AI applications that impact risk management and decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive strategic development of Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions tailored for credit risk and financial data environments.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable data science frameworks and AI models, ensuring robust performance and operational readiness.
• Lead data analysis and modeling efforts to uncover insights relevant to credit risk, utilizing advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Develop Generative AI applications, including retrieval‑augmented generation workflows and NLP models for automating risk documentation.
• Implement model monitoring systems to detect data drift, anomalies, and performance degradation; optimize models for accuracy and efficiency.
• Work closely with stakeholders across technology, risk, compliance, and business units to gather requirements and ensure compliance with data privacy and ethical standards.
• Promote responsible AI development, ensuring models comply with governance policies within a regulated financial context.

Qualifications:

• 5‑8 years of hands‑on experience in deploying Machine Learning or Generative AI solutions within production environments, preferably within financial services.
• Profound knowledge of quantitative methods, probability, statistics, and numerical approaches.
• Demonstrated expertise in MLOps principles, including model deployment, lifecycle management, and data drift monitoring.
• Experience with relevant technologies: Python, scikit‑learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MLflow, Apache Airflow, and familiarity with databases such as Neo4j, MongoDB.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
