About The Role

Prospec Associates is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their dynamic team on a contract basis outside IR35. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and computer vision to deliver actionable insights and develop data‑driven solutions for a diverse range of engineering projects. The role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including software engineers, project managers, and domain specialists, to translate complex data into meaningful insights that provide a competitive edge to clients. The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in designing algorithms, developing models, and integrating these solutions into production environments, ensuring high standards of data quality and performance optimisation.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record as a Data Scientist with extensive experience in Python, utilizing libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, Scikit‑Learn, Matplotlib, and Plotly.
  • Strong expertise in statistical modelling, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
  • Essential experience in computer vision technologies and applications.
  • Knowledge of data engineering practices, including pipelines, databases, and infrastructure, with AWS experience considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualisation, and data cleansing methodologies.
  • Experience applying data science in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial operational contexts is highly desirable.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify key business problems and translate them into effective data‑driven solutions.
  • Develop and implement algorithms and statistical models to analyse and interpret complex datasets.
  • Work closely with software engineers to integrate models into production environments, ensuring seamless deployment.
  • Communicate insights and analytical results clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision‑making.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality and accuracy across all deliverables.
  • Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve the performance of models and algorithms to ensure optimal results.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, tools, and technologies in data science to incorporate best practices into projects.
