Design Engineer

Freedom's Professional Services is seeking a Senior Design Engineer with a cabling specialization to join our team, based in either the Stowmarket or London offices, to support expanding work within Scotland. The role involves designing, drawing, and calculating projects, collaborating with the wider Design team, and conducting site visits for surveys and data collection as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing and leading technically demanding projects.
  2. Leading all types of cabling projects from concept to detailed design, ensuring they are cost-effective and meet deadlines.
  3. Maintaining good commercial awareness and building strong client relationships.
  4. Having detailed knowledge of cable system routing and design, and proficiency in software such as AutoCAD and CYMCAP.
  5. Understanding and mitigating complex engineering problems like SEDs.
  6. Mentoring and guiding Design, Assistant, and Graduate Engineers.
  7. Participating in and leading design team meetings, both remotely and in person.
  8. Providing engineering solutions through TQ/RFI processes.
  9. Reviewing and authorizing earthing reports and drawings, providing technical feedback.
  10. Conducting site visits for earthing assessments, design commissioning, and investigations post-failure, confidently and independently.
  11. Holding a degree qualification is desirable; fundamentals from HNC/HND are essential.
  12. Being autonomous and able to work with minimal supervision.
