Design Manager / Senior Design Engineer / Department Manager

East Sussex (Hybrid role so national)

The salary for this role is up to £60,000, negotiable depending on experience.

Our client, based in East Sussex, is a globally recognised market leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of innovative, high-quality stair solutions. With over 25 years of experience, they are now seeking a Design Manager / Senior Design Engineer / Department Manager to join their established team.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking existing designs from leading architects and developing them for construction, considering aesthetics, buildability, program, budget, and sustainability. Whilst occasionally undertaking bespoke staircase design, the role will also involve specifying materials, components, and finishes that meet project briefs, regulations, and commercial viability.

Responsibilities

• Develop existing designs for construction
• Specify materials, components, and finishes
• Work with the project design team and liaise with the production facility and installers
• Manage client communication and ensure contract compliance

Requirements

• Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD with Parametric modelling for 3D CAD or Autodesk Fusion 360
• Knowledge of helical / spiral stair design
• BIM experience
• Familiarity with bespoke metalwork and architectural products
• Effective communication skills
• Project Management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
• Adaptability and ability to work independently and multi-task
• Proficiency with MS suite of packages
• Commercial awareness
