Design Manager

Overview

Join as a Design Manager in Kier Group’s Natural Resources (NRNN) business unit, based in the Thames Valley region (North). You will oversee the design phase of construction projects for wastewater treatment upgrades and resilience works, working closely with Thames Water on their Sewage Treatment Waste Asset Assurance Programme (WAAP).

Location & Contract

Location: Working from home and site/offices as and when required across Oxfordshire.
Contract: Permanent, Full Time – flexible and part‑time hours may be available if desired, just let us know.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design phase of civil‑based construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Optimize the engineering assurance process for designs developed by design partners.
  • Manage design change and serve as the primary point of contact for technical queries during both construction and design phases.
  • Ensure the engineering design team, design consultants, and construction partners develop technically and economically efficient engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction Design & Management (CDM) regulations and manage design‑related health and safety risks.
  • Support the Senior Design Manager in delivery of project objectives and line‑manage the Design Co‑ordinator and graduate team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or similar role in the civil/construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
