Development Director

We're looking for a Development Director to join our Kier Property Team based in London.
Kier Property is part of the Kier Group and is one of the UK's leading developers, undertaking development across sectors including offices, industrial, residential regeneration, and mixed-use schemes. We have a strong balance sheet and a proven track record, making us a trusted long-term partner to public and private sector clients.
Location: London - hybrid working available, with travel to the office and sites required 3 days per week.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility available.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Development Director, you'll support the Kier Property Team in leading developments within the property development sector, focusing on residential development. You will oversee teams across all development phases, balancing managerial (50%) and technical (50%) tasks.
Your daily responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing delivery of approximately GDV 250m.
- Assisting the Sector Head and MD in executing the BU strategy.
- Driving high performance through talent development, diversity, and inclusion initiatives to meet the 5-year KP Strategy.
- Collaborating with the MD, Kier Property Board, Sector heads, and JV boards on cash management, risk mitigation, profit optimization, and performance metrics.
- Managing projects through all development phases in line with approvals and business plans.
What are we looking for?
This role is ideal if you have:
- Experience in strategic land acquisition and large-scale housing development delivery.
- Proven ability to negotiate with private and public sector clients.
- Ability to analyze business improvement initiatives and advise senior management.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is encouraged but not essential.
- Leadership experience with a track record of coaching and developing teams and unlocking talent.
