Overview
We are looking for an experienced Development Underwriter to join our team.
What does a Development Underwriter do?
As a Development Underwriter, you will report to the Head of Underwriting Strategy & Development, supporting Guardian’s proposition to achieve target business outcomes. You will review and propose changes to URE rules, present for reinsurance review, test rule changes for accuracy, analyse data, and report outcomes. You will manage time and workloads to meet internal quality standards, develop relationships across departments, drive efficiency improvements, ensure adherence to FCA “Treating Customers Fairly” requirements, identify and report areas of risk, and adapt behaviours for vulnerable customers.
Who are we looking for?
- Candidates with recent experience of rules development and testing for Life, CI and IP underwriting, using UnderwriteMe or similar URE.
- Ability to contribute immediately and learn quickly to cover knowledge gaps.
- Technically proficient with experience of Life, CI and IP underwriting.
- Experience of MI analysis and reporting, previous use of Yellowfin and/or PowerBI preferred.
- Ability to work with colleagues at all levels and with external parties.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external partners (e.g. reinsurers) is crucial.
- Ability to manage own time and work priorities.
