Job Title: Director of Academic Outcomes

Location: National role – home based with regular travel

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9-5

Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum (Based on experience and qualification) plus £4,000 car allowance.

The Role

The Director of Academic Outcomes will provide strategic leadership to secure the highest standards of academic achievement across Outcomes First Group schools and colleges. With a strong focus on mainstream and independent school standards, the postholder will drive improvements in SATs, GCSEs, and A Levels, ensuring breadth and depth of curriculum, robust assessment systems, and clear pathways to the best universities and independent schools. The role requires an individual with proven expertise in raising attainment and achieving outstanding academic outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the Group’s academic strategy, setting clear expectations for excellence across all settings.
    • Work with Regional Directors, Principals, and senior leaders to embed high expectations and ambitious targets.
    • Ensure academic priorities align with OFG’s wider strategic vision.
  • Curriculum and Teaching
    • Oversee the development of broad, balanced, and ambitious curricula.
    • Ensure high-quality teaching and subject leadership at every key stage.
    • Drive innovation and best practice in teaching and learning to secure exceptional outcomes.
  • Assessment and Outcomes
    • Lead the implementation of assessment and tracking systems across the Group.
    • Monitor and analyse pupil progress and attainment data, identifying gaps and ensuring timely intervention.
    • Report outcomes and trends to the Quality and Compliance Director, UK, and Board.
  • Raising Standards
    • Champion academic ambition, supporting schools to secure top SATs, GCSE, and A Level results.
    • Support progression routes to Russell Group universities and leading independent schools.
    • Hold leaders accountable for performance and provide challenge and support where underperformance is identified.
  • External Engagement
    • Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements and other national standards.
    • Build and maintain relationships with universities, independent schools, and examination bodies.
    • Represent OFG externally on academic matters.
  • KPIs and SLAs
    • Year-on-year improvement in pupil attainment (SATs, GCSE, and A Level results).
    • Evidence of increased progression to Russell Group universities and selective schools.
    • Consistent implementation and impact of assessment and tracking systems across all schools.
    • Positive Ofsted outcomes in relation to quality of education and pupil achievement.
    • Regular, accurate reporting of academic outcomes to the Quality and Compliance Director and Board.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven track record of raising academic outcomes at senior leadership level.
  • Strong knowledge of SATs, GCSEs, A Levels, and assessment frameworks.
  • Experience of delivering curriculum leadership across multiple key stages.
  • Evidence of holding senior leaders to account for performance.
  • Excellent data analysis, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel nationally.
  • Desirable: Experience of 11+ preparation and selective school entry.
  • Desirable: Background in independent or mainstream high-achieving schools.
  • Desirable: Experience supporting pupils into Russell Group universities or Oxbridge.
