The UK’s heating system is outdated, costing both people and the planet too much. At Kensa, we’ve been leading the charge since 1999, manufacturing and installing affordable, green heating solutions with minimal impact on the electricity grid. We’re responsible for over half the ground source heat pumps installed in the UK. Our networked heat pumps are the cheapest, cleanest way to heat and cool millions of homes and businesses, and even entire towns. By 2040, up to 8,000 homes a week could be connecting to these heat networks, eliminating 17Mt of CO2 a year, equivalent to that of over half of all UK flights. In leading the networked heat pump sector, Kensa will expand to install 50,000 heat pumps a year and employ 1,500. It’s time to leave high bills and emissions behind.

About The Role

At Kensa, we’re leading the way in sustainable heating solutions, and we need a strategic and commercially savvy leader to help us continue our growth. As our Director of Commercial Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimising our commercial strategy, overseeing procurement, logistics, contract management, estimating, and strategic partnerships.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment, has a sharp eye for process improvement, and is passionate about strong governance and risk management. If you have experience leading commercial teams, managing contracts in construction-based industries, and driving operational excellence…we would love to hear from you.

What You Will Be Doing

• Developing and implementing a commercial operations strategy that aligns with business objectives.
• Leading procurement, logistics, estimating, and contract administration - driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Embedding governance frameworks to ensure compliance, accountability, and risk mitigation.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives across commercial functions to optimise performance.
• Building and maintaining strong supplier, client, and stakeholder relationships.
• Leading a high-performing team and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  
  

• Proven experience in senior commercial operations roles within renewable energy, construction or related industries.
• Strong background in managing JCT & NEC3/4 contracts and navigating UK procurement regulations.
• Expertise in contract management, risk mitigation, and financial governance.
• A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop teams.
• A passion for optimising processes, driving efficiencies, and delivering commercial success.
