Maze has been retained by a global Series C FinTech scale-up to hire two Directors of Engineering.

This fast-growing European business is redefining how SMEs and entrepreneurs manage banking, payments, and invoicing. With significant funding secured in mid-2025, they are building out world-class engineering leadership to drive their next phase of growth.

Location: Remote across Spain, Netherlands, Cyprus, Poland (must have right to work). We can also consider candidates based in the UK & Germany via EOR.

Responsibilities

As a Director of Engineering, you will:

• Own and lead a core business domain (Cards or AR/AP)
• Manage and grow multi-disciplinary teams (Backend, Frontend, QA, Mobile)
• Report directly to the CTO, shaping technical strategy & architecture
• Drive engineering culture, collaboration, and product-first thinking
• Stay close to the code when needed — setting standards and guiding decisions
• Proven leadership track record, scaling engineering teams in high-growth organisations
• Strong product and business mindset, able to align tech with commercial outcomes
• Hands-on technical leadership (ideally .NET/C# background, but not coding daily)
• AI awareness and how it can be applied in modern engineering practices
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving scale-up environment

Qualifications

Nice to have:

• Previous FinTech or Payments experience
• Experience working in international and diverse teams
