Director of Performance & Data Intelligence Location: United Kingdom Potential to evolve into CTO-level leadership ICP Search is newly partnered with a leading organisation in elite sport to appoint a Director of Performance & Data Intelligence, a defining leadership role driving how data informs recruitment, performance, and fan engagement. This position is central to an ambitious organisation that sees technology and insight as key to maintaining a competitive edge, both on the pitch and commercially. The Role The Director of Performance & Data Intelligence will own the end-to-end data strategy across all areas of the club including performance, player recruitment, medical, coaching and fan engagement. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role for an individual who has already operated within elite sport and understands the realities, pace and expectations that come with it. You will set the strategic vision for how the organisation collects, connects and activates data to drive positive measurable impact. Key responsibilities include:
Defining and implementing a data and intelligence strategy spanning performance, recruitment, and commercial departments. Building and leading a high‑performing team of analysts and data scientists. Integrating data systems and infrastructure across performance, medical, and fan engagement functions. Leading predictive modelling, player identification, and performance analytics initiatives. Translating complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations for coaches, executives, and board members. Driving innovation in AI, automation, and applied analytics to enhance decision‑making and efficiency. Partnering with technical and commercial teams to ensure data delivers tangible advantage across all areas of the club.
About You You are already operating at a senior level within elite sport and bring credibility, leadership, and technical understanding across multiple domains. You know what it takes to turn data into performance advantage and can bridge the gap between analysis, coaching, and strategic decision‑making. You will bring:
Proven leadership experience within a top‑flight club, league, governing body, or elite performance environment. Broad understanding of player performance, recruitment analytics, medical/sport science, and fan or commercial data. Strong technical fluency across data platforms and visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Power BI, AWS/Azure). Experience managing complex data infrastructure, pipelines, and integrations. Ability to influence and communicate effectively with technical, coaching, and executive audiences. A forward‑thinking mindset and ambition to progress into a Chief Technology Officer or equivalent strategic role.
